Letter N Song

This letter N song is one of a series of guruparents phonics songs.

The song introduces the letter sound by featuring 12 words beginning with the letter n sound, including some sight words.

Kids songs are a good way for a child to start to learn to read — and this one is set to a catchy rap tune, features lots of colorful pictures and has a simple rhyming pattern. It is also a good song to introduce the letter n for someone who is learning English.

‘N’ is a wonderful letter! It is the second most used consonant in English (after ‘t’) and can almost always be relied upon to be pronounced with an ‘n is for night’ sound.

On very rare occasions ‘n’ is silent – usually at the end of a word. Some examples of this are ‘solemn’, ‘autumn’, and ‘hymn’. If your child comes across a silent ‘n’ we suggest you congratulate them – it doesn’t really occur in any beginner-level words, so encountering it is a sign they are progressing well.
